In a ruling made public Tuesday, Judge Terry Ruckriegle ruled that referring to the accuser in the Kobe Bryant case as "victim" would imply the guilt of Kobe Bryant and will therefore be barred from use at trial.

"Its use under these circumstances could improperly suggest that a crime had been committed such that the presumption of innocence might be jeopardized," Judge Ruckriegle said.

The 19-year-old accuser will simply be referred to as a person in the courtroom.
